Howdy!

Welcome to our Blog! This is a new adventure for us so be patient as we become medium-tech folks. We wanted to contact you in a more personal format so we decided to try out this new technology that our nieces are so good at. We hope to keep you more in touch with stuff as it happens and also with us in a more personal way. So, here we go.

Pictures of us, hauling the junk from the backyard and kids we work with in Sekute Village.

It is winter, cold, dry and dusty. Had a great Sunday today as we were in the village...Sekute. I taught the kids about the fruit of the Spirit is the part where others see us DO what we BELIEVE. David and Jonathan exchanging clothes and Jon's protecting David. Giving gifts and sharing show love. Protecting folks shows love. Made me stand in awe of our loving God. He is not just a God who talks but who is with me daily and loves me constantly and steadfastly. His love is so very big...just like Him. We played a game at the beginning, "Guess who is missing!" One child hid their eyes while another hid behind a wall. Then the first child had to tell who was missing. Amazingly, 3 out of 3 could not do it! Again, so glad our Father knows all about us and where we are at all times...even when we don't know.

Here's some random thoughts...
This weekend I met with a lady on tour here from Montana...orginally from Texas (made me smile). Anyways she is a mentor and teacher for 2nd year teachers in the MT and is willing to work with us to get some training for the teachers here. You may not know it but God is making it so that we are a hub for inservice training for community schools here. So, the ability to impact so many children through leadership is profound. Also, met with Brian, Social Worker at Ebenezer, and his friend Valentine. We will begin to work together to get the ropes/abstinence/challenge weekends for purity kicked off. I want to train a group of 10-12 to be facilitators and then let them take the material into other youth groups. I am so excited about both of these opportunities. 1 other BIG opportunity is on the table for a possible grant to be given (we are applying) to beef up science and math in the school. Also, I am busydoing a fund raiser for textbooks for the school. We need close to $10,000 USD. We presently have 4-5 books for each class and they have to share. So, hopefully this craft fair will bring in some money for a few of those.

I work 4 days at the school and 1 in the village; 3 half days now with Lubasi teaching reading to 4 kids who are far behind and work on the computer writing curriculum or teaching other seminars. Sunday's we are in the village and sometimes in town while Butch is a guest speaker for one of his student's. He is now teaching advanced coursework...Hermaneutics (?) and several other classes with the regular curriculum and 1 using Roots of Christian Character by our home pastor at Encourager in Houston.

On a more personal note...I am now a blonde. I thought if they had more fun then I would try it out and see if I could too. Got it done in Zimbabwe. Speaking of which, it was mandated that all stores reduce prices by half and if they didn't stores would be taken over by the government. It is a sinking ship to me. Don't think we will be going over for any supplies as all shelves are empty and the price for re-stocking is the same even though they are selling at half. Such a pity! Was a beautiful country for a long time.

2 of our rhinos have been poached recently by ???

It is Sunday evening and we have popcorn for supper. Yummy! Here are a few pics of us and stuff here. Love and miss you. Hope these random thoughts make sense. Janet
